How and Why to give to LIAF LIAF's mission is to help alleviate the burdens imposed on all those affected by Alzheimer's
Welcome to the Development Office The mission of the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation (LIAF) is to obtain the necessary philanthropic support for a multitude of hands-on programs and services for clients, their caregivers, and their families. We strive to accomplish this by cultivating meaningful relationships between the Foundation and prospective supporters, matching their charitable interests with the needs of those we serve. Why Give to LIAF? Simply put, a gift to the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation is a humanitarian act. LIAF's mission is to help alleviate the burdens imposed on all those affected by Alzheimer's - the clients themselves, their caregivers, and their families. The Foundation is a unique resource for residents of Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Brooklyn, who have a family member afflicted with the disease. From helping to obtain a diagnosis, to providing activities for clients at all stages of the disease's progression, to offering respite and training to caregivers, LIAF is there with a continuum of services and support. The modest user fees for participation in our activities cover only a small fraction of the actual cost, and no one is ever turned away for lack of ability to pay. Your generosity - and that of other friends and supporters - helps fill the huge gap between mounting expenses and our modest revenue. Having a base of consistent, annual support from loyal contributors is essential to our operation. It helps finance LIAF's basic everyday expenses, keeping the lights on and the phones operating, and paying our talented, dedicated staff, enabling us to provide a vast array of services dedicated to meeting the educational, social and emotional needs of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and their families and caregivers. Ways to Give There are many ways to support LIAF's services and programs. You may donate online, by phone or by mail. All online donations are encrypted and very secure. To make a donation now, select the method that works best for you. Make a Contribution Now. Make a gift now to support LIAF. Your donation - in any amount - can help fund the full range of our services, or you can choose to designate your gift for a specific program. Make a Memorial Gift. Make a donation in memory of a relative, friend or loved one in a very meaningful way. Your gift helps relieve the terrible burdens imposed by Alzheimer's on clients, their caregivers, and their families. With a gift of $25 or more, LIAF will send a special acknowledgment of your gift, with no mention of the amount. Make an In-Honor Gift. Honor someone of importance in your life by giving an in-honor gift in place of a traditional gift to celebrate a birthday, graduation, anniversary, wedding or any special occasion. You'll also be making a meaningful contribution that will help others, and LIAF will send a special acknowledgment to the person you have honored (for gifts of $25 or more). Make a Recurring Gift. Some supporters have found it beneficial to arrange or budget their gifts on a recurring basis (weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually). It's convenient, saves postage and the bother of writing a check, and enables them to assist LIAF to a greater degree than would otherwise be possible. The arrangement is without cost to you, and can be discontinued or altered at any time. It's beneficial to LIAF, too, since our budgeting is easier with a more predictable income. If you would like to set up a recurring gift to be paid through your credit/debit card or bank account, you may use our on-line donation form, or notify us by mail, e-mail or fax. Donate by Phone

Planning Your Gifts The Gift Planning Service at LIAF allows friends and supporters to make gifts to the Foundation in a variety of ways that are beneficial to the donor and LIAF. Thanks to special provisions in our federal tax laws that were specifically intended to encourage private support for charitable organizations, donors can make charitable gifts that provide them with unique economic advantages. Frequently referred to as "planned giving," tax-planned charitable gifts can provide lifetime income, and help you avoid, reduce or eliminate capital gains tax or estate taxes. It has become an increasingly popular planning option, as it offers attractive incentives to the donor and allows you to control the outcome of your estate. Please contact the Development Office if you have any questions or are considering a gift to LIAF. We would be happy to assist you. |
