The 2017 Ann Asparro Run

The 2017 Ann Asparro Run

One in nine Americans over 65 has Alzheimer's disease. Eighty percent of all care provided to Alzheimer's individuals is tendered by family and friends.

When my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, I learned not only the staggering statistics such as those above, but also the devastating effects it can have on families who try to care for their loved ones. That's why I'll be running 75 miles – across Long Island from the south shore to the north shore and in the New York City marathon - on November 4 and 5, 2017 to raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease and bridge families to the services provided by the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation. I'm running for my grandmother, for my parents and aunt and uncle, and for all the other families who are suffering because of this terrible disease.
